The shishalh Story (Manuela)
Many moons ago, kwátam sálham (the creator) came from the spirit world with a sacred mission. kwátam sálham started by creating the mountains, oceans, rivers, and creeks. Then kwátam sálham created the forests, trees, and plants. Lastly, kwátam sálham created the tátch-úl-mixw (animals of the land). The sea animals, creatures that could fly, crawl, and run.
When kwátam sálham completed this part of his mission, they travelled back to the spirit world where they gathered their children, the s-pélém-úlh (the divine creatures). kwátam sálham brought the s-pélém-úlh back to what they created, the home we know today. Then kwátam sálham specifically instructed the s-pélém-úlh that they must always care for each other, teach each other, and share their knowledges. That’s how the shishalh people became one.
